The appearance of Shri Balaji Maharaj is a symbol of an unforgettable miracle. About thousands of years ago, Shri Rampuri Ji Maharaj, the Goswami transcended Mahant of the first Dashnami Shaiva sect, gathered the Panch Patels of 11 villages and between the two picturesque hills of the Aravalli Mountains, when they removed herbs, shrubs, and stones, there was a idol of Shri Balaji Maharaj. Then the Shri Rampuri Ji Maharaj, the Goswami transcended Mahant of the first Dashnami Shaiva sect and Panch Patels of 11 villages instituted the child form of Shri Balaji Maharaj. He started worshiping with his complete reverence, devotion, and the rituals of Sanatan Shastras. Instantly, Mahant Shri Rampuri Ji Maharaj with his complete devotion and faith also instituted Shri Bhairav Baba and Shri Pretraj Sarkar at different places in the same chain. 

According to historical beliefs, Shri Balaji Maharaj’s appearance in his childhood form was nothing short of a miracle. Gradually, the story of Shri Rampuri Ji Maharaj’s dream spread to nearby villagers. People from nearby villages started coming to the door of Shri Balaji Maharaj for darshan. By his grace, the wishes of the devotees started to be fulfilled, and this place developed into a grand and huge form. 

In the tradition of the erstwhile Mahants of the present Mahant Shri Shri 1008 Dr. Narresh Purri Ji Maharaj, under the guidance of Goswami Ascended Mahant Shri Rampuri Ji Maharaj of the first Dashnami Shaiva sect, Shri Balaji Maharaj made his presence felt at Ghata, Mehandipur. In the middle of the Aravalli Mountain range, Balaji Maharaj’s child form was seen. Due to his supreme observation, the rituals of Shri Balaji Maharaj were performed according to the rituals of the entire Sanatan Shastras. During this time Shri Bhairav Baba and Shri Pretraj Sarkar were also instituted. 

This heart-rending form of Shri Balaji Maharaj still amazes the devotees. One of the features of this religious place is that a fine stream of water droplets flows continuously from the left chest of Shri Balaji Maharaj, which touches the feet of Lord Shri Ram and Goddess Sita and gathers in the kundi made near to the feet of Shri Balaji Maharaj. This water is distributed to the devotees in the form of Charanamrit. 

This awe-inspiring manifestation attracts innumerable devotees from all over the country, who come here for darshan, Savamani events and wish fulfilment. On Tuesdays and Saturdays, the Lakhi Mela is organized, in which a huge crowd gathers at the time of the evening aarti of Shri Balaji Maharaj. The same voice echoes from the throats of all the devotees:

Shri Balaji Darbar

In the court of Shri Balaji Mehandipur, Shri Balaji Maharaj is seated in his child form, which mesmerizes the devotees. Shri Bhairav Baba and Shri Pretraj Sarkar are also seen in the temple premises. Many devotees from all over the country come here to get peace of mind and divine grace. 

Shri Balaji Maharaj, the son of Mata Anjani and an ardent devotee of Lord Shri Ram, is seated in his child form with a very charming image in the temple. Near to the foot of his idol, there is a small kund, in which the never-ending water droplets are collected. This stream flows drop by drop from the heart of Shri Balaji Maharaj. This water is distributed to the devotees in the form of Charanamrit, which the devotees are blessed to get. 

According to historians, an explosion in the forest formed a huge crater, from which a beam of light appeared. A voice came in the ears of the saint, “I am Batuk Bhairav, consecrate my life in the idol sitting inside this pit and consecrate the life of Shri Kotwal Kaptan in the small idol near me. Since then, Shri Bhairav Kotwal has been increasing the fame of this place and removing the sorrows of the devotees and providing happiness and peace. The traces of jalabhishek are clearly visible on the main rock. The rocks here depict the presence of Shri Bhairav Kotwal Kaptan. They are coated with silver, which makes their appearance look very sacred. There are glimpses of silver decoration and Indian craftsmanship all around, which mesmerizes the devotees. This place is considered to be extremely sacred, powerful, and mysterious today. 

At the time of consecration of Shri Balaji Maharaj, according to historians, a fragrant red sandalwood rained from the sky. On the same night, thousands of devotees thronged the shrine to see the ride of Shri Pretraj Sarkar. Shri Pretraj Sarkar appeared in a white coloured carriage, then put his sword in the carriage, took off his shoes and circumambulated Shri Balaji Maharaj. At present, there is an idol of Shri Pretaraj Sarkar, which is embellished with golden robes and rose petals. The entire inner sanctum is decorated with gorgeous flowers, filling the atmosphere with devotion and divinity. This idol is a wonderful example of spiritual reverence and traditional Rajasthani decor. 

The Newly Transformed Glory of Shri Balaji Temple

The important work of development of Shri Balaji Mehandipur temple was started by Ascended Mahant Shri 1008 Ganeshpuri Ji Maharaj, which was carried forward under the leadership of Ascended Mahant Shri 1008 Kishore Puri Ji Maharaj. At present, under the guidance of Dr. Narresh Purri Ji Maharaj, the temple is undergoing all-round development and expansion. The work being done at present makes the devotees pleasantly surprised. 

The interior of Shri Balaji Mehandipur Temple is a blend of composition, religious spirit, and traditional architecture. There are several prasad vitran centers on the way to the temple. As the devotees enter the temple premises, they are led towards the courtyard of Shri Balaji Maharaj through a queue arrangement. Due to this arrangement, the devotees move forward cheering. A live broadcast on television is also shown while proceeding towards the main inner sanctum. All the devotees enter the main inner sanctum through the grand entrance. 

The idol of Shri Balaji Maharaj is installed in the main Inner Sanctum, where various rituals and worship are performed.

At the Samhita Karma site, devotees offer prasad to the priests to offer it to the Lord.

There are narrow corridors to control the crowd of devotees in an orderly manner.

CCTV cameras, security personnel, and first aid services are available in the entire temple complex.

The main statue of Shri Balaji Maharaj is enshrined in the form of a self-styled rock. The statue has been decorated with gold, which makes his aura seem divine. The figure of Shri Balaji Maharaj is clearly in the child’s pose. There is a pylon decorated with garlands of pink and white flowers around the statue. The makeup and decorations change daily, while the entrance to the Inner Sanctum is decorated with red and gold textiles embroidered that reflect traditional Rajasthani art. There is an archway above the statue, the outer layer of which is painted in golden and yellow colors. This structure reflects the Rajasthani architecture of the temple. 

The Inner Sanctum begins with a glass cupboard. As soon as you come inside, the beauty of the Inner Sanctum increases from the black-white ground floor. It is a symbol of divinity and traditionality. It has a unique combination of Rajasthan’s cultural image, golden makeup, and religious sentiments.
